Joe Wise
Wise (b. 1939) is a Roman Catholic singer songwriter (of folk hymns), liturgist, writer, painter & retreat leader. He has released 19 albums of religious music.
Wise was one of the most performed and influential composers of liturgical music in what became known as the ‘folk Mass movement’ after the Second Vatican Council. Other representative composers from this era include Ray Repp, Jack Miffleton (1942- ), Paul Quinlan (1938- ) and Sebastian Temple.
In the 1960s, 70s, and 80s he led liturgies, conducted workshops and gave concerts and lectures all across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He lives with his wife Maleita in Arizona.
